Hypermodern Opening Repertoire for White
Schiller, E. 1999. 296 pages
OP82920 $16.95

An opening book designed to take advantage of Black's misplays with the center pawns. The idea is to secede the center to black and then to execute a crushing flank attack. This opening is easier to learn than some others due to the consistency of piece placement, no matter what defense Black chooses to play.

Opening for Black According to Karpov
Khalifman, A. 2001. 191 pages
OP80578 $29.95

Covers Caro-Kann, Queens Indian, Kings Indian, Reti, Nimzo-Indian, Catalan and the English Opening. “To build” (this word seems to reflect the ideas of the present book in the best way) the opening repertoire for black is a complex task. Usually it is a tedious and a time-consuming process. We will achieve this purpose in an easier way through a close examination of black openings played by Anatoly Karpov, the 12th World Champion. Of course, we will regard not all the openings he ever played but only those which agree with the idea of an integral opening system. This is easy to read lots of text (explanations of alternate moves good and bad). Excellent for those bouncing around from defense to defense and not getting anything concrete done.

Opening for White According to Kramnik: 1.Nf3 V.I
Khalifman, A. 2000. 239 pages.
OP78957 $29.95

How to play the Kings Indian, Nimzo Indian and Anti-Grunfeld for white. “The book in front of you is not a text on openings, at least not in the usual sense. It is not a book about the 1. Nf3 move and at any rate not about the Reti opening. This is a book about the way to resolve white’s opening problems once and for all with the help of Kramnik and under my guidance...” He knows that the buyers will not be grandmasters and so he has taylored the book for regular players because we often face less than the best move at important parts of the game. The book has excellent analysis and text.
